The Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (CEECS) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for two non-tenure track instructor positions to support the teaching mission of its undergraduate computer science program. The teaching load is the equivalent of eight courses per nine-month academic year, with summer teaching often possible on a separate contract. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is expected to start in August 2017. Applications will be accepted until June 15, 2017. Candidates must have at least an MS degree in computer science or a closely related field. Candidates with broad backgrounds spanning all areas of computer science will be considered, with preference for candidates holding a doctorate and/or with extensive applied software development experience. Duties will include undergraduate teaching and service in department-level committees. Required areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: C/C++, Internet/Web/Mobile Programming, Systems Programming (Unix), Java, Python, and database tools such as DBMS, SQL and MySQL. Candidates are expected to have in-depth knowledge of programming languages.

FAU, which has over 30,000 students, is one of 12 state universities in Florida. The CEECS department is located on FAU’s main campus in Boca Raton. The department offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering, and MS degrees in bioengineering. It has over 794 undergraduate, 157 MS and 73 PhD students. FAU researchers collaborate with research organizations like Scripps Florida, Max Planck Florida, and Harbor Branch Oceanic Institute. The CEECS department has a strong funded research record featuring competitive federal, state and industry grants. Many faculty members have received research funding from such federal agencies as the National Science Foundation, Army Research Office, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the National Institute of Health.
